================================================ DIRECTIONS TO HAWK RIDGE ================================================ There are several access points to Anthony Chabot Regional Park on Redwood Road in Oakland. From I-580 westbound in Castro Valley, take the Castro Valley exit and turn left at Castro Valley Boulevard. At Redwood Road, turn right. (From I-580 eastbound, take the Redwood Road exit and turn left at Redwood.) After about two miles on Redwood you will first come to Willow Park Golf Course, then Proctor Staging Area, both on the left. Another few miles will bring you to Marciel Gate at Marciel Road. This is a hiking and equestrian staging area, and Marciel Road leads to a group camping area, the marksmanship range, and the Chabot Family Campground, which is also the home of evening campfire programs held in the summer; non-campers are welcome. Farther along Redwood Road you will find Bort Meadow Staging Area. After another few miles you will reach Redwood Regional Park's Redwood Gate on the right, just past Pinehurst Road Anthony Chabot's MacDonald Gate and Big Bear Gate staging areas are farther along Redwood Road on the left. Finally, the Skyline Ranch Equestrian Facility (510-336-0850) will be on the left just before Redwood's intersection with Skyline Boulevard in Oakland.
To reach any of these areas from Highway 13 in Oakland, take the Redwood Road exit, proceed uphill, and cross Skyline Boulevard. Continue on Redwood Road until you enter Lake Chabot, about six miles. Follow the direction to Group Camp Sites, then Hawk Ridge.
It is probably easiest to reach the park and our campsite from Highway 13.
