CANS FOR CRITTERS 2007/2008

Date: 4/27/08
Location: SAN DIEGO WILD ANIMAL PARK

Hello There Recyclers!

Please join us in a GREAT event that teaches our Scouts about recycling and participating in a program that benefits endangered species.

The San Diego Wild Animal Park is putting on their annual Cans For Critters Drive starting now and ending April 1st.

What to you do?

It's easy . . . start saving you aluminum cans and plastic water bottles. Take the pull tabs off the cans (I'll explain why in a minute) and REMOVE THE TOPS from the plastic bottles. Smash the cans and bottles and keep track of how many you collected. It's that easy!

These cans and bottles are then given to the San Diego Wild Animal Park who use the proceeds to assist their Center for Reproduction of Endangerd Species.

Every Scout that collects 200 cans and/or bottles receives a really cool Cans For Critters conservation patch.

Every Scout who collects 400 cans/bottles recieves a really cool patch and gets to attend the Cans For Critters Jamboree at the San Diego Wild Animal Park on April 27th. After the Jamboree, those Scouts get to go to the Wild Animal Park for FREE (you must attend the Jamboree to get into the Wild Animal Park for free).

It gets better . . .

Why stop at 200 when you can just as easily collect 1000 cans or bottles. Each Scout that collects 1000 cans/bottles also will receive 2 additional free passes to the Wild Animal Park!

Let's get busy Scouts . . . START COLLECTING NOW!

This is a MASSIVE Scouting event in which thousands of Cub and Girl Scouts participate.

Pack 332 has done very well at this event the last couple of years. Three years ago we were the #1 provider, two years ago we were the #3 provider and last year we were the number 1 provider!

Can we do it again this year?

I think we can!

Your cans/bottles can be dropped off at our Novemeber, January and March Pack Meetings.

Oh yeah . . . those pull tabs . . . I asked you to take them off of the aluminum cans. Take them off and save them . . . Pack 332 donates those pull tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in Orange for their recycling program.

So now get busy Scouts . . . start collecting . . . don't be afraid to pick up that can or bottle that you see laying on the ground. It won't bite you.

Other peoples trash can also be considered other peoples riches'.
