New & Improved Hike!

CUB SCOUT HIKE
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2005
1:00 P.M.

Come join us for the Cub Scout Hike Sunday, October 9, 2005. We will be hiking the Switzer Trail in the San Gabriel Mountains. It’s a nice, shady trail that follows a wide, but safe, stream. (It really is not a successful hike unless you can get dirty and wet).

We will meet at the Switzer Picnic Area at 1:00. Take the 210 Freeway west and exit at Foothill. Continue west on Foothill and turn right on Angelus Crest Highway. The Switzer Picnic Area is about 9.6 miles up the Angeles Crest Highway (measured from the intersection at the 210 freeway). The total drive time from San Marino should be about an hour.

The Forest Service requires that all cars parked in the San Gabriel Mountains have an “Adventure Pass.” The cost is $5.00 for a one day pass and $30.00 for a one year pass. Your favorite Cub Master has been parking for years without an Adventure Pass and has only been ticketed once. But, past performance is no guarantee of future results, so make your own decision. Adventure Passes can be purchased in Pasadena at:

Big 5 Sporting Goods
3719 E. Colorado Blvd.
Pasadena, CA 91107
626-795-3111

Or, you can pick up one on the way to the hike at:

Sport Chalet
920 Foothill Blvd
La Canada, CA 91011
818-790-9800

For more information and a complete list of places you can buy an Adventure Pass, check out the Forest Service website at:
