Pinewood Derby 2008

Location: Silva Valley Elementary School
Start your engines everybody. Pack 454's Pinewood Derby 2008 is set for Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at Silva Valley Elementary. Your den leader received a car for each scout at the December Pack Meeting so contact him soon if you weren't there. Extra cars for adults/siblings are available from Mike Breedlove for $4. ALL cars must be turned in to your den leader before the official weigh-in scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9. Review the offical Pack 454 Pinewood Derby Rules soon to make sure you are properly prepared.
Scout cars will race by rank and trophies will be presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers within each rank. Each of those cars will also race in the Pack 454 Finals. The top three finishers from the Pack Finals will race against other EDH Packs at a future date for the Sam Harry trophy.
Adults/Siblings are encouraged to build cars as well. Those races will start off our Derby but only bragging rights will be available (No trophies).
Remember that there are seven special judging categories for Scout cars only having nothing to do with race day performance: Most Original, Most Like A Car, Best Workmanship, Best Paint Job, Most Unlike A Car, Best Overall Design, and Judges Choice. The 1st place winner in each category will receive a trophy. 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category are recognized at the Pinewood Derby and generally receive a Certificate of Accomplishment. These awards will be determined by vote at the official weigh-in.

4:00 Tigers Race
4:30 Wolves Race
5:00 Bears Race
5:30 Web 1's Race
6:00 Web 2's Race
6:30 Pack 454 Finals
7:00 Clean-Up
These times are approximations only. We will race in that order but will start any and all rank races as soon as possible following the completion of the prior rank.
