Camp Lassen 2006
Cub Scout Pack 454 of El Dorado Hills recently returned from Camp Lassen having earned the coveted “Spirit Award” for an unprecedented second consecutive year. Twenty-five boys between the ages of 7 and 10 representing six different elementary schools participated in this annual four-day/three night, fun-filled, action-packed Cub Scout camping adventure.
Under the theme of American Folklore, the boys of Pack 454 donned classic railroad engineer garb and crafted hand-made, wooden train whistles to portray the pioneering spirit of Casey Jones and the Cannonball Express. Pack 454’s enthusiasm could not be contained as their cheers and songs reverberated throughout the meadows and canyons of Camp Lassen.
In addition to traditional camping experiences such as campfires, hiking, fishing and swimming, these boys also participated in many other activities such as BB Gun shooting, archery, canoeing/kayaking, leather crafts, rope making, knot tying and much, much more.
Many of these Cub Scouts also demonstrated poise and leadership by conducting an inspiring flag raising ceremony and offering grace on behalf of the 15 other Cub Scout Packs in attendance.
Unquestionably, the Scouts of Pack 454 obtained a treasure trove of first-class memories laid down squarely on the tracks of the timeless principles and values associated with the international Scouting organizations.
