WHAT DOES SCOUTING COST?
Date: 9/08/07
What Does Scouting Cost?
It is the intent of the Boy Scouts of America to make scouting an affordable experience for every single boy who wants to join. We do our best to keep with this tradition in Pack 552.
All our Pack & Den leaders are volunteer parents. Many of our leaders were Boy or Girl Scouts as children, and have great memories that they want to pass along. The South Florida Council is staffed by a team of paid professionals as well as volunteers.
Monthly Dues
Pack 552 charges monthly dues of $15 per boy. It is used to cover for several administrative expenses. At the Pack level, funds are used to pay for all the awards that are given to the scouts, pinewood derby kits, space derby kits, rain gutter regatta kits, pack owned equipment, pack meeting supplies, Training material for leaders, trailer storage and to offset costs incurred by the Blue & Gold Banquet and other activities. At the Den level, dues pay for material used at the den meetings
Special Events
Special events, like camping, cost extra since not every boy participates.
Fund Raisers & the Scout Account
Pack 552 promotes some fund raising activities (product sales, garage sale, etc). A portion of those sales goes directly to each Scout’s “Scout Account”. Funds in the Scout Account can be used for registration fees, camp or event fees, and annual dues. Scouts who participate in the fund raising activities, can use the scout’s portion of the fundraiser to help offset the cost of annual dues
