November 10, 2007 - Scouting For Food Program
Date: 11/10/07
Location: Altamonte Springs Near Annunciation
Pack 630 - Please plan on joining us on November 10th to collect bags of donated food from homes near Annunciation. (Troop 849 will be passing them out on November 3rd)
On Saturday, November 3rd, more than 35,000 Boy Scouts and volunteers will canvass the streets of Central Florida delivering 800,000 empty grocery bags to homes across the area. One week later, on Saturday, November 10th, Scouts will retrieve the bags filled with non-perishable canned goods. Within 48 hours of the Scouts' pick-up, the first donations will be on the shelves of food banks and pantries ready to feed the hungry.
Scouting for Food began in 1985 as a community service project in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew to Central Florida in 1988 as part of the organization's national Good Turn For America program, which works to inspire Scouts and Scout volunteers to a higher level of service and volunteerism in the community.
