In The Footsteps of the Voyageurs
On Sunday, March 20th, our scouts got to see what it was like to be a voyageur. Scouts got to see what a trading post was like in the 1700's. The scouts got to touch and see flintlock-type muskets and all equipment needed to make the muskets work like the black powder, the flint, the musket balls and the ramrod. The scouts were especially interested in the muskets. There was a maple syrup demonstration with a live demonstrator making maple syrup. The scouts went into the museum and got to see a real birch-bark canoe along with the inside of a wigwam and a cross-section of a beaver hut.
