Tiger Cub Den 2

Copy of Email Sent to TIGER parents (9/18)
Date: 9/18/06
Dear Tiger Cub Parents,
First of all thank you so very much for your attendance and encouragement at our first den meeting! I wanted to email you about the up and coming "Wizards" Soccer Game.
So far I have 4 Scouts and 3 adults signed up. If you would like for me to purchase tickets for you and your Scout I need to know BY THIS FRIDAY if I need to purchase a ticket for you and your scout. Remember the Scouts are already paid for through our den money, but each parent (or additional sibling, etc.) will be $9 a piece. BUT I need to know if you are going or not, because I won't purchase a ticket for your Tiger Cub until I hear from you...and I need to know by this Friday.
Details for the event:
1. From the flyer you received at the Den meeting: "There are pre-game activities if you would like to come out for that from 5:30-7:30...A large BBQ grill with charcoal will be provided for Scouts at parking lot D-16. Bring your own soft drinks, and food to cook. There will be inflatable games, etc. Children ages 15 & under can sign up in advance to be a part of the "Human Tunnel," player introductions on Arrowhead field." ((THIS IS OF COURSE A COMPLETELY OPTIONAL EVENT...I PERSONALLY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE THERE FOR THIS PART OF IT...AS I HAVE PREVIOUSLY PLANNED ENGAGEMENTS...THIS WOULD BE SOMETHING THAT YOU COULD DO TOGETHER PRIOR TO US COMING TOGETHER FOR THE GAME ITSELF.))
2. You need to meet me at 7pm at the WILL CALL area. Please allow yourself plenty of time to get there, park and be at the WILL CALL area at 7pm. I will have your tickets for you there to give to you.
3. Here is a link to how to get to the stadium (Arrowhead Stadium - where the Chiefs play). http://web.mlsnet.com/t105/stadium/
4. Before the event, if your Scout doesn't understand Soccer take some time to explain to him the basic rules of games (Ex: they can only use their feet, there are two goals, they have to keep it in the bounds, etc.) This accomplishes the "Go See It" requirement 3G in the Tiger Cub handbook, so you will want to mark that and take note of it in your Scout's handbook.
Reminders for this month from our last den meeting:
1. Our website address is: www.pack3777.org this will be our primary means of communication, as with a den this size this is the most efficient way we see to get information out to folks. So PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make it a regular habit to check that site! Thank you!
2. I need to know what months you would like to sign up for. Log on to www.pack3777.org and see the den calendar pick a month and then you and I can begin planning that month.
3. Because the size of the group I need an ASSISTANT DEN LEADER, if you are available to help out in this way. Please email me at: Matthew@providencecommunitychurch.net to let me know. Thanks!
4. For this month: A. Do Family Activity (1F)in your handbook. B. Work to finish up your son's Bobcat Requirements so that in the Pack meeting in OCTOBER each boy can get his Bobcat Badge. I would love it if all the boys in the den could earn it together at the same time. Remember, perfection is not the key only that they "Do Their Best." Don't worry there won't be a "test." :) C. Remember to mark in their booklet that all the boys that came to the first den meeting they have accomplished: 1. Numbers 4, 6 & 7 on the Bobcat Trail found on page 162. 2. Den Activity (1D) found on page 40 of the Tiger Cub handbook, by making the scrapbook for the year's activities. D. If you would like to do the Popcorn Sales, and you would like to have some of the products on hand with you, you can contact Mike or Janet McMullen at 913-338-2129 as they now have some of the products on hand. Or you can go ahead and begin selling them and there will be a shipment that is made later on where the boys will then distribute the items then. Please keep in mind, that the sale of this popcorn really does help our Scouts, we first timers to the Tiger Cubs have greatly benefited from last year's sale. So, as you are able, I would encourage you to have fun with this and really sell the Popcorn!
E. If you are unable to go to the Wizards game, you can look for other opportunities to fulfill your "3G" requirement...that I will leave up to your own discretion on how you do that.
Again thank you so very much for your very meaningful encouragement to me after the last den meeting. It was a great time and I would encourage you to begin to go through the handbook, especially the electives part and look for things that you and your son can do together this year. Scouting is really all about what you make it...IT CAN BE a very exciting thing that you and your son do together. Things that we do at the Den and Pack level are only a platform for making those memories and special times that you can have together, it is really what we as parents make out of it...so go and have fun with it.
Again remember this Thursday is our pack meeting...go and have a fun time together with the "Wings of Love" Bird program, again I apologize I will not be able to be there, as I will be away with my lovely bride on a pre-scheduled get away, so have a great time. Take care and I look forward to seeing you at the Wizards' game at the end of the month.
Take care & God bless,
