Wolf Den 2
Wolf Update Email - For December

Date: 12/6/07

Dear Wolf Parents,

SNOW is here and we are at home! So I trust you have gotten the voicemail, or email that our meeting for this evening (12/06/07) has been canceled due to weather. However, we are going to be marching ahead with our Wolf calendar by moving tonight’s meeting to NEXT WEEK –

I. Next meeting:
When? Next THURSDAY December 13th. 6:30 – 8pm
Where? At Providence Community Church which is located right off of I-35 in Lenexa . (The former Amos Family Funeral Home) The place where MPE has now moved their new offices and library to. We will be meeting downstairs by the MPE offices. The address is: 10113 Lenexa Dr. Lenexa, KS. 66215.
What to bring? Christmas Cookies/Goodies

II. For This Saturday – Singing At the Retirement Home

When? THIS SATURDAY! 10:30am – 11:30am
Where? Click here for directions from our pack website: http://www.packsonline.com/Ks/3777/Pack_HTML/Pack_Announcements/Pack_Announce_87067.html
What do you need to do?
MAKE A CHRISTMAS CARD TO HAND OUT TO THE RESIDENCE OF THE NURSING HOME.
Read Luke 2:1-17 as we will be dividing this up among the boys to read out loud to the residents about the true meeting of Christmas! And we will be handing out candy canes to them as well.
Also due to the space limitations we are asking each family to bring just one parent their scout…as there is not enough room to accommodate everyone’s siblings.

III. Achievements For My Scout ~ What should he have done already?
All Bobcat requirements if your scout has not already earned this from last year. (I think all the boys have this)
All of Achievement #1 (pages 38 – 45 – note: not all these things need to be done in this section – once you get to page 41 you have a choice!)
All of Achievement #2 – (pages 46 – 55) – note: if you haven’t done Achievement 2e, 2f & 2g – Mr. Wallace will be leading us in doing this at the beginning of our next meeting (12/13/07).
All of Achievement # 3 – (pages 56 – 59) – note: we did most of this in one of our den meetings on First Aid.
All of Achievement # 4 – (pages 60-63) – note: we did 4f at the WW1 Museum and Liberty Memorial– which was awesome!!!
All of Achievement #5 – (pages 64 – 69) – note: which Mr. Wallace did at our last pack meeting in Nov.

IV. Achievements For This Month!
1. All of Achievement #10 – “Family Fun” (pages 88 – 93) I would encourage you to use this month of December with all of the activities around Christmas to incorporate these events. Note: 10c is accomplished when we did the hike at the Overland Park Arboretum. 10f can be accomplished by going out to see a Christmas program at your church, etc.
2. All of Achievement #11 – Duty to God (pages 95 – 99) I would encourage you to do this as a Christmas activity with your family as we set our hearts and minds on Christ – the “reason for the season.”
a. Likewise, if any of you would like to work on the “God & Me” – (Protestant) Religious Emblems Program that you see on pages 98 – 99. Please contact me, because I will be taking Christian through this and as a pastor I can do this for whoever else would like to as well. This is a very simple program that helps the boys explain the basics of the Christian Faith. – If you are interested please contact me and I can get you more information.
3. Achievement #6 - “Start a Collection” (6a-6b) – and we will do 6c in the January den meeting – where the boys can have a time of “show and tell” of things they have collected.

As you have done these things, please email Todd Thalmann so that he can turn in your boy’s achievements. tmann@everestkc.net

Likewise, if your son, has hiked 10 miles then he has earned his Scout Staff which will be awarded to him at the Pack meeting in January…and I know several of you have done this, but let me know ASAP so I can go to the Scout store and get your son’s staff!! Email me at providencekc@sbcglobal.net

As you all can see the Wolf year is really different from the Tiger year where much was done within the den. As you look at the achievements that you have yet to do, don’t worry because many of these things you folks do on a regular basis through your family devotions or through homeschooling, etc. Have fun with this and ENJOY the time spent with your son!

For any questions, etc. please don’t hesitate to contact me at 913-244-6101!

Love Scouting,

Matthew Hoffman
