Summer Camp Registration!

Date: 7/31/09 - 8/2/09
Time: 5:00PM - 11:00AM
Location: Stearns Scout Camp, Fairhaven

What: Cub Scout Summer Camp
Where: Stearns Scout Camp, Fairhaven
Dates: Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 2
RSVP: Michael Hartford, michael.hartford@earthlink.com, 612-728-1046

Summer Camp is for Tigers through Webelos I (current Lions through Bears) will be at Stearns Scout Camp in Fairhaven from Friday, July 31, through Sunday, August 2. New Webelos I Scouts (Bears) are invited to attend the Webelos Outpost, Sunday night through Monday morning. The cost is $90.00 per camper (Scout or adult) for the main camp, and an additional $30.00 per camper for the Outpost.

Cub Scout Camp is a family camp and parents are encouraged to attend; parents who can attend but still want to have their Scout go to camp can arrange to have another parent transport and supervise their Scout. Scholarships are available through the Northern Star Council and cover half the cost of camp; the Pack may cover the other half of scholarship recipients' costs.

At Summer Camp, we sleep in tents provided by Stearns; sometimes the camp is already set up for us, and sometimes we set it up with the assistance of the camp counselors. Meals are provided at the dining tent; it's a well-run show, with all of the heavy lifting provided by the camp staff - parents and Scouters get a little bit of a break.

And the counselors are great: many are Boy Scouts or Venture Scouts and are enthusiastic about working with Cub Scouts.

Camp activities include campfires, archery, BB guns, paint ball (for the Webelos only), the climbing tower (for the Webelos only), bouldering wall, swimming, and boating. Activities are organized by rank and it's a great chance for Scouts from our Pack to mix with Scouts from other Packs.

Most activities focus on belt loops and rank advancement. So
it's also a great way to get a head start on the trail to Tiger, Wolf, Bear, or Webelos.

Space is limited, so sign up as soon as possible! Parents interested in Summer Camp can contact Michael Hartford who will be keeping track of registrations. Payments can be made to Victor Gonzales, the Pack Treasurer.

RSVPs to Summer Camp are due May 16!
