Government in (in)action!

Eight Scorpion Patrol Scouts, one Viking Patrol Scout, one Tiger, and one sister, along with parents and grandparents, visited the State Capitol on the day before Thanksgiving. We toured the building (seeing the Governor's Reception Room, the Senate and House of Representatives chambers, and the old Supreme Court chamber, learned about government and about our 102-year old Capitol building, and met our State Representative, Jean Wagenius, who was one of the few people working that day!

After our tour, we negotiated the Capitol complex tunnels to the Veterans Services Building and saw the naval gun from the destroyer U. S. S. Ward, manned by Minnesota reservists, which fired the first American shot of World War Two on December 7, 1941, less than an hour before the attack on Pearl Harbor, sinking a Japanese midget submarine.
