We rode the rails!
A total of 44 Pack 120 family members - 12 Cub Scouts, 10 siblings, and 22 parents - enjoyed a trip back in time on the Minnesota Transportation Museum's Osceola and Saint Croix Valley Railway aboard the 11:00 a.m. trip to Marine. Webelos Scouts who hadn't earned it earned their Traveler activity pin and everyone got a "Cub Scout Express" patch for their red vest.
The train follows and crosses the Saint Croix River and passes through William O'Brien State Park on the 19 mile, 90 minute trip. We rode aboard a 1920-era Rock Island Lines coach and, after the trip, visited the cab of the Museum's 1950-era Colorado and Southern SD-9 class locomotive, freshly painted in its 1970s Cascade green Burlington Northern paint.
Afterwards, most of the crowd adjourned to Osceola's Dairy Queen for lunch and many enjoyed the new trail system starting in Osceola's Mill Pond Park.
