It rained but what's a little mud between Scouts?!
Spring Camp 2007 at Fred C. Andersen Scout Camp was a great success! Sure, it rained. But it could've been worse! And what's a little mud between Scouts?!
Campers arrived on Friday evening, many delayed by rush-hour traffic on Interstate 94 and others by the weather. We had a quiet evening with a fire, some informal games, and intermittent light rain.
On Saturday, Den 3, the Viking Patrol, provided breakfast: boil-in-the-bag omelets, made to order! After that, we headed to the archery and BB gun ranges and had a stint of free time to prepare for skits. Lunch was hamburgers on the grill. Afterwards, there was a trip to the ever-popular trading post (can you have TOO much sugar?!) followed by a nature hike with FCA's knowledgeable campmasters. After that, we had our Pack meeting with skits and more free time - and a few hours of rain. A special thanks to Bear Den Chief Robert Pikkarainen for the hours that he spent building and tending our evening's campfire in the rain! After dinner - walking tacos - we had a campfire with Pack 120's famous chocoladas - and a new variant, the bananalada!
On Sunday, we enjoyed Scandia Bake Shop doughnuts, patrolled the campsite for trash (that trading post again. . . .), cleaned the shelter, had some fun and games, and headed home.
Thanks to all the adults who pitched in for a great weekend and to all the Scouts who did their best and had fun.
