"New Scouts" Uniform Information

On behalf of Michael DelBalso, our Cubmaster, welcome new scouts to Pack 108!
Before buying any scout supplies before the first den meetings, please note Pack 108 provides the items listed below after the scout dues are paid and the Pack receives your scout application, and are usually handed out by the Den Leaders at the first den meeting.
The Pack Buys:
· Scout Handbook,
· Neckerchief,
· Neckerchief Slide,
· 108 patch numbers, (* see note below)
· Pack 108 scout hat
Parents Need To Buy:
· Shirt with American Flag (required)
· World Crest (required) (Zeppelin Hobbies is currently out of crests, see note below)
· Council Strip (required)
· Belt (optional) (but is needed for belt loops that the scouts earn)
· Den Hats (optional) (the Pack is providing a “Pack 108” hat for all new scouts, but you can purchase a den specific hat (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelo etc.)
· Socks (optional) (there are no pack requirement for scout socks at meetings or camp outs)
· Pants (optional) (most kids just wear regular long pants or shorts in hot weather)
Parents can purchase their items from either the Oakland Scout Shop, or Zeppelin Hobbies (both links are also listed on this Pack web site by clicking the “LINKS” tab at the top of this page).
Both stores are helpful in providing these items, and know exactly where items are placed onto the shirt. The Oakland Scout Shop may have a little more inventory, and is the “official” BSA store for these supplies, but they do not provide sewing services. However, you can go anywhere to purchase these items.
Please try to purchase these items and have them sewn on before your first den meeting (Sep 10th – Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Sep 17th (Webelos I & II – see complete calendar of events on our web site). (*Zeppelin Hobbies can sew all items onto the scout shirt. They charge $1.00 per patch, and have a (2) day turnaround after purchase. If you go to Zeppelin for supplies and you want them to sew items onto the shirt, go ahead & purchase the (3) Pack “108” patch numbers from Zepplin to save you a trip rather than having the Pack provide them. Zeppelin Hobbies now also has the World Crest back in stock as of 8/29/08.)
