Pawnee Rock Weekend is April 3-5

Date: 4/3/09 - 4/5/09
Location: Schiff Scout Reservation

Come for the weekend or just for the day on Saturday. Enjoy a scavenger hunt, hiking, games and other great fun. We'll have a bonfire at the special April pack night Saturday at the Stone Council Ring. It's a wonderful weekend to experience with your fellow scouts and their families!

This is a free camping weekend out at Schiff Scout Reservation.

Your entire family is invited. This has been a popular trip.
Since it's free, we need to know how much food to buy.
Please let us know ASAP who's coming, when you're coming and when you're leaving.
If you don't like to camp, please consider coming out for the day on Saturday.

Big Weekend this Weekend! Every time we go out the kids seem to enjoy it more and more!

Here's the Directions:
Take the LIE East to Exit 68 William Floyd Pkwy - North
William Floyd to Route 25 East
Route 25 to a left turn onto Wading River Road.
Schiff Scout Reservation will be on your right side. You will pass a church on the left, and some trailers on your right. The entrance to Schiff (the name of the camp) is immediately after the trailers. Schiff is between routes 25 and 25a on Wading River Road.
Pawnee Rock is the name of one camp site within Schiff Scout Reservation. There is a link below to a map of schiff.
When you get there, park your car and check in at the office next to the trading post. From there, you must walk in, it's about 1/4 mile. Remember, the more you pack, the harder the walk. People have a tendency to pack way more than they'll use.

Here's what to bring:
First, wear clothes you dont mind camping in. I usually wear work clothes.
Class B uniform.
Work gloves, for you and the kids.
A change of clothes (even if coming for the day. Especially for the kids)
Sleeping bag.
Toothbrush, personal toiletries.
Something warm to sleep in.
If you pack correctly, you have no more than a small duffle bag plus sleeping bags for you and your kids.
NO ELECTRONICS/PERSONAL GAME DEVICES
You wont need coolers, food, snacks. We have plenty there.
Rakes, paint brushes, rollers & pans for the service project.
You will need Class A uniform for Pack Night - 7pm Saturday.

Here's the itinerary:
If you're coming Friday Night, you have to come after 6pm.
Events start at 9am Saturday. There will be painting or similar projects for the adults, and site clean up projects for the kids. There will be a patch for the kids participating in the projects. The projects also fill some of the requirements for the World Conservation and Leave No Trace Awards. Please bring basic hand tools if you have them like hammers and such.
At 9am we'll also get an accurate head count for lunch.

At 1pm We'll have lunch.

After lunch, we'll wrap up our projects and have an afternoon of games and fun. there will be some sports belt loops and other things we'll do together. We'll also practice stuff for our camp fire that night.

At 5:30p - Dinner

7:00p - Camp fire/Pack Meeting

After that, bed.

In the morning on sunday, we'll have breakfast early and be out of there by 10.

See you there. Dont hesitate to contact me at my cell number listed below if you get lost.
