Opportunity to be a Host Family
Date: 5/30/08
The Miami Valley Council of BSA has been pushing a program to expand access in the Dayton area to international Scouting and international cooperation in general. I heard about this opportunity, and while it's not Scouting specific, I thought it was worth sharing with our Oakwood families.
A group of 18 high school students from all over Germany will arrive in Dayton this July to get a “jump start” on their English Language and North American culture before spending their exchange program in an American high school. They will be participating in structured classes and cultural enrichment activities the month before school starts. The program is sponsored by ASSE International, a non-profit cultural exchange organization.
Volunteer host families are being sought to welcome these students, ages 15-18, into their hearts and homes during this 4-week cultural enrichment program. All ASSE students bring their own spending money and are fully insured. You provide a separate bed and daily meals to your host daughter or son and arrange for transportation to and from the classroom on weekdays. Carpooling is available.
