2009 District Cubmobile Races
Date: 11/1/09
Time: 1:00PM - 5:00PM
Location: Anderson Civic Center Parking Lot
Hey guys, race time is here. Races are November 1st and 15th. Again this year we will allow you to continue to experiment with different wheels until we tighten down the wheel regulations. If you need Comtech wheels, there is a link below. We also plan to order a few sets to keep in stock, so check with us, as we might can save you some bucks on shipping. Most plans on the web appear to be the basic cub plan, but it does give you a starting point. We also have added a link to a cubmobile forum for more info. And you if find any good info, please let us know.
Rule Amendments: This year we will be "cracking down " on cars with loose steering and weak brakes. We admit we have been a little "lax" the past couple of years, but we must "tighten" these cars up before we really have some serious issues.
First, all cars on their initial run must demonstrate the ability to stop their car using the brakes. The driver must show the ability to stop his car after a short run. Should he fail, his car goes to the end of the line until his next chance to run. Should a driver not be able to stop his car properly, his has until his next race to resolve the problem. If the problem persists, then that car is eliminated from that heat.
At the finish, the driver must stop his car in a confined area. Should he fail to stop his car with the designated area, then that car is considered the loser, regardless of its position during the race. Should both cars fail to stop in time, then the winning car will prevail. The race staff will not be allowed to stop a car unless it leaves the confined area. Parents will not be allowed to stand at the finish line as they have in the past. This only distracts the driver and he becomes dependent upon the parents to stop him. This will cease. The boy must be able to stop the car without any help. Bottom line, the car must have working brakes at all times. Hope we have not confused everyone.
