Field Games Were WET and Whacky
 June 15, 2004
A small group of Scouts and their parents braved the looming rain storms to take part in some fun and games...and make homemade ice cream at the same time.
Instead of an old-fashioned ice cream freezer with a crank, Mr. Irby concocted a custard that went inside plastic quart containers which were then sealed inside gallon paint cans with ice and rock salt. The boys' mission was to keep the cans rolling for 20 minutes to freeze the custard.
Even when the rains came, the fun continued with a water balloon fight (balloons filled with water AND shaving cream for extra messiness), a dizzy dash, and more. And when it was all over, everybody was soaking wet and enjoying delicious homemade milkshakes (not quite ice cream, but excellent milkshakes).
