PLANNING FOR CAMP
CAMP SUNRISE ‘09 – THE WORLD AROUND US
We would like to welcome you and your Cub Scouts to a spectacular summer adventure at Camp Sunrise! This will be Camp Sunrise’s 84th anniversary and we have some great surprises in store for you.
The overall theme for resident camp will be “The World Around Us” This theme will give your Cub Scouts a chance to learn about the continents, customs, traditions, environments, and animals from around the world. Using costumes and themed activities, Camp Sunrise will be transformed into “The World Around Us” a place where your young actors can travel to the outer limits of their imaginations.
Even the campsites will take on new identities:
• Abenaki will become Asia
• Mohawk will become Europe
• Eagle Point will become Antarctica
• Upper Apache will become North America
• Lower Apache will become South America
• Lakeview will become Australia
• Iroquois will become Africa ***This is our site ***
Packs will be encouraged to develop the continent that goes with the campsite they are in. The Webelos II program was a great success in 2008. This program will be back in 2009.
Camp Sunrise has held a special place in our hearts since we first laid eyes on it more than a decade ago. We are incredibly excited to have the opportunity to invite you to a summer so that you too can fall in love with this magical place where as the Camp Sunrise song says "the scouts can still roam and grow into men".
CAMP FEES ALL FEES MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO ARRIVAL AT CAMP!
A Late Fee Of $20 per Person applies to anyone NOT paid in FULL by June 15th
Campership Applications are Due in Council Office by April 15th
Cub Scout Full week $290 – If paid by June 15th or fee increases to $310
Early Bird Discount $260 – If Paid by May 15th or fee increases to $290
Extra Leaders $80 – This is a per week fee OR $22.50 per day
There will be a $50 per Cub Scout non-refundable deposit due at the Council Service Center by April 15th, 2009. Please accompany your payment with your roster. Reservations can be increased, if space is available by paying an additional $50 deposit per Cub Scout. Full payment, to take advantage of the Early Bird Discount, would then be due by May 15th.
MEDICAL INFORMATION:
*** Please be Advised that there is a new Medical Form. ***
*** Regardless of age it must be updated annually ***
ALL participants must bring current copies of their physicals with them. There are no exceptions and we can not pull them from previous years.
The Annual Health and Medical Record must be completed by all who are attending camp. You will not be able to stay at camp without this form SIGNED by your health care provider!
Please notify us of food allergies at least two weeks before attending camp.
ALL medications must be in prescription containers and must be checked in at the health lodge upon arrival at camp.
FINANCIAL AID CAMPERSHIPS
Under certain circumstances, GMC provides Camperships to boys in need of financial assistance. Normally, no more than half of the camp fee will be provided.
Applications must be received by April 15th. All scouts applying for a Campership MUST pay their $50 reservation fee at the same time they sign up for camp.
