Pack Meeting
The one, the only, Mr Travis Buttle, Game Warden Extraordinaire educated our Scouts in the intricacies of Map and Compass on this beautiful Saturday morning. Following the requirements for the Map and Compass belt loop and pin, Mr Buttle taught how to:
orient a map,
how a compass works,
about latitude and longitude,
how to draw a compass rose,
how to measure distance on a map using the scale on a map,
how to draw a map of the neighborhood,
how to take a compass bearing and follow it,
and one group tried to follow a compass course.
Both groups earned the Map and Compass belt loop.
The sledding was pretty good too!
