Webelos Overnight
Webelos, Boy Scout, leaders and parents met at Hale Mountain Rod & Gun Club on Friday 1/30/09 at 6:00 for a Webelos Overnighter. (Outdoorsman #3 or Arrow of Light #5)
Everyone slept in the cabin but enjoyed a campfire and s'mores outside in the snowstorm courtesy of Troop 353. (Outdoorsman #2)
Mr Doucette brought supplies for the Scouts to make ice picks and fire starters from wax, paper and paper cups. (Craftsman # 2 or 4)
After breakfast and clearing our belongings, the Webelos set up tents to give them practice in case they have never done this. (Outdoorsman #3)
Mr Doucette covered some of the basics in first aid, including blood safety (wear gloves), how to cover a bleeding head wound and one on a limb, and how to make a splint and sling. (part of Readyman #5)
Later, we went out to the pond onto the ice and talked about how to use the ice picks to save ourselves if we've fallen through the ice. And also how to help rescue someone else who has gone through the ice.
Once we were done, we made sure to Leave No Trace of our overnight in the cabin so the place was ready for our Pack Meeting.
