AUTUMN OVERNIGHT

Date: 10/2/09 - 10/4/09
Time: 4:05PM - 1:00PM
Location: TWIN LAKES BSA CAMP

Our Fall Overnight is scheduled for Friday, October 2nd - Sunday October 4th.

We will make the drive to BSA Camp Twin Lakes, in a beautiful part of the state, during a beautiful time of year. The drive to Waupaca takes about 2 hours, but it's part of the fun! This is typically the "peak" weekend in this area for the trees turning...

We will use a lodge for programs and for some to sleep - maybe 20 or so - and then tents all around for the tent campers among us. We will plan meals as a Pack.

In response to those who would prefer a Friday-Sunday trip, we have also made that possible! Come stay for the whole weekend, or for whatever part you can spare. We have the lodge and the campground all weekend!

There will be hikes on the Ice Age Trail and a 5-mile Backpacker Award available for the most intrepid 'packers. We will do a through-hike under fall colors and over an oak savannah along the IAT, passing through Emmons Creeks Natural Area and Hartman Creek State Park. We'll talk about what to bring with you on a trip outdoors. Also on Saturday we might make a trip to a nearby fish hatchery.

On Sunday we have the option of renting some pontoon boats on the Chain O' Lakes in Waupaca and viewing the colors from the water, maybe stopping off for ice cream along while we cruise. We'll see what the weather has in store!

There will be opportunities to fish at the BSA camp, right off the pier, so bring your rods, reels, and tackle boxes. All who bait a hook will earn their Fishing Belt Loop!

We might have a lesson on how to build a fire and then we'll have a bonfire Saturday night. Of course we'll have a campfire Friday night as well, s'mores included.

Saturday PM we will have a marbles tournament. Seriously. The boys will learn the rules of marbles, earn a Marbles Belt Loop (yes, that exists!), and go home with their own set for play. The winner will go home with... something. Do you know how to play marbles? Shouldn't we?

Many, many opportunites for advancement.
All who attend will earn a Fall Camporee patch!
Even more opportunity for fun!
